The 'Roofing Revolutionaries' march on Parliament...

14th October 2008 - Today, at 2.30pm a group of ‘Roofing Revolutionaries’ will be marching towards the Houses of Parliament to highlight the need for changes to Government policy to help meet the UK's CO2 reduction targets and the latest advanced innovation in UK solar power.

As part of the ongoing mission from the solar industry, the Roofing Revolutionaries will be armed with new solar technology, a solar slate for roofs, which has been designed to make installing solar simple. The UK innovations make it possible for any roofer to become a solar installer, thus speeding up the speed with which solar PV can be deployed in the UK.

Inside the House of Lords, will be the world’s first renewable energy model village. The major coalition lobbying for a Renewable Energy (Feed-in) Tariff, as part of the Energy Bill, is meeting with MPs and Lords. The group includes The House Builders Federation, Greenpeace, WWF, NFU and the PCS Union. If passed, the Tariff will empower and pay everyday people and organisations to become producers of renewable energy at a time when energy bills are increasing dramatically. If successful the Tariff will mean people will be paid to produce renewable heat and renewable power within one year.

The Roofing Revolutionaries will then be taking their 'march for solar' to Interbuild, the UK's largest building show at the NEC, Birmingham on the 27th of October, to persuade Roofers and builders to join the solar Roofing Revolution.
