Miliband Shows Leadership on Renewable Energy Feed-in Tariffs

UK PV manufacturers Solarcentury, Romag Ltd and Sharp UK have warmly welcomed yesterday's Commons statement by Ed Miliband MP, confirming that the Government will introduce feed-in tariffs for "small-scale" renewable electricity generation from technologies such as solar PV and small wind.

Seb Berry of the newly formed UK PV Manufacturers Group said, "Ed Miliband is to be congratulated for showing real leadership on the feed-in tariff issue. This has been the vital missing ingredient in UK renewable energy policy and the new Secretary of State has moved quickly to address that. It's now essential that the Government works closely with the solar PV industry to put in place appropriate tariff levels, so that we can play a full part in helping to deliver the 2020 renewable energy target."

Rt. Hon Ed Miliband MP, the new Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change has confirmed in the Commons that: "Feed in tariffs have the potential to play an important role in promoting renewable energy in small-scale generation, and we plan to bring in an amendment to the Energy Bill to make this happen."
