You can help Support Solar
The We Support Solar campaign, initiated by the UK PV Manufacturers Association, aims to promote the benefits of solar PV and ensure the government sets a suitable rate for the forthcoming feed-in tariff.
The campaign has already attracted the support of MPs on all sides of the House of Commons, and is endorsed by campaign groups Friends of the Earth, the World Future Council, Greenpeace and the Green Alliance, as well as the European Photovoltaic Industry Association and Renewable Energy Association. See the full list of MPs supporting the campaign.
However, to ensure solar PV is recognised as a valuable contributor to the UK's 2020 renewable energy targets, we need to encourage more individuals, companies and most importantly MPs to sign up to 'Support Solar'.
What can you do?
Colin Challen MP (Chairman of the All-Party Climate Change Group) tabled a Commons motion (EDM 689) on Wednesday 4th Feb, welcoming the launch of We Support Solar and urging the Government to ensure that the potential of solar PV is supported in the Government's Renewable Energy Strategy due to be published this Spring.
This is a real result, but we still need to get more MPs to support the EDM.
Please email your constituency MP and ask him/her to sign EDM 689. You can do this very easily by visiting www.theyworkforyou.com to find their address and following the instructions online. This will only take two minutes of your time and will really help the campaign.
Please ask your MP specifically to sign EDM 689 and put "Please support solar energy EDM 689" in the subject line of your email. Remember also to write both as a company and as an ordinary constituent - you may live in a different constituency to your company address. Also please encourage your colleagues and friends to write to their MPs.
Many thanks, on behalf of 'We Support Solar'.
