Solar Glazing
Application:
Solar glazing is a unique combination of solar photovoltaics (PV) and glass where the PV cells are laminated between two panes of specialised glazing. The resulting glass laminate serves the dual function of creating energy and shade at the same time.
Solar glazing can be used wherever conventional glass would be specified – such as curtain walling, atria, windows and shading canopies and can be integrated into sealed glazing systems or conventional bolted glass structures.
Glass laminates can be tailor made or bought in existing formats, bespoke designs allow architects and designers to vary light penetration by changing the spacing between individual cells. The finished effect of Solar glazing offers a unique aesthetic where natural lighting is combined with dappled shading to provide comfortable naturally lit spaces.
Features:
• Extremely versatile, with many final uses: solar shading, reduction of glare, weather protection, thermal insulation, enhanced aesthetics and clean energy production combined.
• Unique opportunities to create varied shading effects and glazing patterns from ‘made to measure’ solar glazing
• Prestigious aesthetic - solar glazing is recognised as a unique construction material combining the functionality of glass with elegant solar power generation
• Full integration –solar glazing can form an integral part of the building envelope
• Transparent, opaque and coloured options available
• Structurally sealed or bolted mounting assembly options
• Suitable for vertical, horizontal or inclined installation
• Simple connection - flying leads allow easy integration of the electrical output
• Power output from the modules is guaranteed for 25 years
