The roof of the Genesis Project, Taunton

Solarcentury were employed as a sub contractor to install the PV system on the new Genesis Project building. The design included a fixing framework on the flat roof for the PV system and a Thermal system fitted by others.

The solar photovoltaic (PV) array installed on the Genesis Project Building in Taunton is made up of a total of 24 Sanyo 210W PV modules supplied by Solarcentury. The array covers a total area of 30mē and is capable of producing a total peak DC power of 5.04 kilowatts under Standard Test Conditions (STC). The estimated annual energy yield for the array is 4500 kilowatt hours (units of electricity).

The portable display unit will ensure that data on system output is readily available and the system includes a data logging facility allowing performance information to be downloaded to a PC for use within the college.

The project involves numerous sustainable technologies and can be viewed on http://www.genesisproject.com/genesis05/
